Inclement Weather and School Closings
Some winter reminders:

Cold temperatures and wind make for a bad mix for our students who have to walk to school or wait for the bus.  Our children need to be dressed appropriately.  Mittens, gloves, hats, and boots are important protective wear.  Remind your child to bring home the same clothing they wore to school.  Sometimes they forget or lose clothing during the day.  If that happens, please stop by your child's school to see if that missing clothing article is there.

School Closing and Postponements
Cancelling school for an entire day does not happen very often.  Decisions to postpone or cancel school are made after a review of the situation has taken place by representatives of the district administration, maintenance staff, and the Owatonna Bus Company, as well as sources such as surrounding school district officials, the Minnesota highway department, the highway patrol, and city maintenance staff.  When decisions are made to cancel or alter the school day, every effort is made to communicate that decision to parents in a timely manner by posting it on our website, sending an automated phone call and email, and notifying local radio and TV stations.

To help the district contact households efficiently, be sure to have updated home, work, and/or cell phone information entered into Infinite Campus (click here to check your information in the Infinite Campus parent portal).  This will help ensure that you automatically receive information about pending school closures in a timely manner.

Thank you for your assistance!  We want everyone to stay safe and warm this winter season!
